Students learn a range of beginning to intermediate vocabulary on aerial tissu, hammock, rope and more! They will explore a series of shapes, transitions and other movements to create a sequence of moves that can then be practiced in many creative ways. The focus of the class series will be on familiarizing students with a variety of apparatus, finding ways to dance in, on and around the apparatus and building strength, flexibility and creativity through aerial dance. In addition, we will be spending time strengthening basic technique and conditioning the strength and flexibility necessary to increase confidence and fluidity in the air.
ALL SERIES purchases are final, non-refundable and non-transferable. As a small business we just don’t have the financial flexibility to offer this to our clients. Thank you so much for supporting our small studio and for your understanding.

Oct 18 & 21: Intro to Rope and Harness Workshop with Kiran Haithcox
11AM-12:30PM
Have you ever wanted to fly, spin in the air, and run and flip on the walls? Do you feel impelled to bounce enthusiastically off the walls when descending after rock climbing? Then you'll love Aerial Rope and Harness work!!!! We will practice rope and harness both on the wall (standing on the wall as if it was the floor, running, bouncing, and cartwheeling) as well as working in the middle of the room playing with spinning, partner work, and solo dance. We will start class with a core Pilates warm up and safety lessons, then we will learn some skills and then we get to play and improvise and create.
Come prepared to hang upside down and spin so make sure you don't eat or drink too much before class. Double layered pants are recommended to minimize the harness pressure. Let's get flying! Imagine different floating movements, twirls, swings in every plane of motion —the possibilities are endless.

"I've been attending adult classes at Upswing for a couple of years now, and the classes are one of the things I most look forward to every week. I started classes here because I wanted to try something new; amazingly, I still feel like I'm trying something new every class I attend. Ashley and Cherie are marvelous teachers. I've found their classes to be well balanced between teaching skills on the one hand, and encouraging creativity on the other hand - both on and off the apparatus! Something that sets these classes apart is the focus on dance and on making fluid transitions. It's hard work, but the benefits are tangible - I think I'm stronger now than I've ever been. If I could give six stars to Upswing, I would :)" - Katie S.

"Studio 12 flys rocks! I found Studio 12 online after seeing an aerial dance performance in San Francisco. Cherie and her crew are fantastic instructors- as committed to the process of learning how to fly as much as the act, itself. The girls program, which I usually see a few minutes of at the tail-end of class, looks like a blast. Women empowering women! :-) The small classes and top-notch facilities make for a very safe, intimate flying experience. Check it out!" - Julie M.
