Helen Fitanides danced on the ground for many years, but a whole new world opened up in 2010 when she began dancing with the La Petite Chouette Aerial Dance Company in Santa Barbara. She has had the pleasure of performing in California, Washington, Arizona, and Colorado, and is thrilled to be dancing with the UpSwing Company! She has a degree in marine biology and works in the environmental field when she is not flying.

Helium Valentine began aerial as a dancer just wanting to build some upper body strength 7 years ago in Los Angeles. That first, difficult class led her to a professional training program in Boulder, Co, and then to the Bay Area where she performs and teaches in San Francisco and with UpSwing.  Helium also practices Muay Thai and yoga, and hopes to one day be able to call herself a ‘surfer.’
